What is Spiky Whisper?

Spiky Whisper is your real-time, in-call coaching assistant — log in, start a recording, and get live guidance as you talk.

Spiky Whisper is Spiky's real-time coaching assistant that runs on your desktop during live calls. Once a recording starts, Whisper listens alongside you and surfaces checklists, topic tracking, and AI-generated coaching cards while the conversation is still happening — not after the fact.

System requirements

  • macOS 12 Monterey or later, or

  • Windows 10 or later

Logging In

Open the Spiky Desktop App and sign in with your work email and password, or use Sign in with Google, Sign in with Microsoft, or Sign in with Apple.

The Home Tab

After logging in, you'll land on the Home tab — your starting point for every recording and meeting. From here you can see your synced upcoming meetings and start a new recording at any time.

Starting a Recording

There are two ways to start a Whisper session, depending on where the audio is coming from.

Desktop Audio

Use Desktop Audio for phone calls, dialers, or in-person conversations — anytime you don't have a Zoom / Meet / Teams link.

  1. Go to Home → Desktop Audio.

  2. Optionally name the session and pick a language.

  3. Click Start Recording.

Whisper captures:

  • Your microphone (what you say)

  • Computer audio (what plays through the machine, e.g. a softphone)

Speakers in Desktop Audio: Spiky usually shows Host (you) and Guest (the other side). It cannot reliably name real meeting participants the way it can in a detected Video Call. For Opener / company research, add an email or domain manually in the header pills — see Automatic Participant & Company Research in Whisper.

Video Call

Use Video Call for Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Slack Huddle.

If your calendar is connected, Spiky can detect when you join and show a Record popup. That starts a local Whisper recording on your desktop (it does not send a Spiky bot into the call unless your calendar bot settings say otherwise).

For ad-hoc meetings: Home → Video Call → paste the URL → Start.

Whisper Only Mode

In Settings → Calendar & Bot Settings, turn on Whisper Only Mode so the Spiky bot never joins calendar meetings. Calendar still syncs for upcoming meetings and research; you record locally with Whisper.

Try Demo

Not in a live meeting yet? Use Try Demo on Home for a simulated Whisper session.

Setting Up Your Session

Once recording starts, open Quick Tips for optional Checklist, Template, and notes from previous conversations.

Whisper Dock

While Whisper is recording, a black Whisper dock sits at the top center of your screen (timer, live indicator, stop). It expands downward for Guidance, Battlecard talk tracks, Ask Scribe answers, and template reminders — so coaching stays visible when the main window is behind your meeting app.

Use Open in Whisper on a card to bring the full app forward. Turn the dock on or off in Settings → Show Whisper dock (on by default).

Ending a Meeting

Click Stop Recording in Whisper or confirm stop on the dock. Upload and analysis continue on the Spiky web platform.

Typical call flow

  1. Start recording (Desktop Audio or Video Call) → Whisper opens + Whisper dock appears

  2. Optional Checklist → opening steps

  3. Select Template → Topic Progress + Live insights (and dock Guidance / Battlecards)

  4. Watch Knowledge cards (blue) and agenda nudges in Live — key ones also surface on the dock

  5. Closing Checklist / Ask Scribe as needed

  6. Stop recording
