Customize Your Recording & Scribe Preferences

Control how meetings are recorded and how the Scribe appears, with both personal and organization-wide settings.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Recording and Scribe settings let you customize how Spiky captures and analyzes your meetings.

You can adjust preferences such as when Scribe joins meetings, how recordings are triggered, and whether participants are notified. These settings ensure that your meeting analysis is seamless, consistent, and aligned with your team’s privacy or workflow preferences, eliminating the need for manual uploads or extra steps.

  • Personal view applies when you're the only Spiky user in a meeting, allowing you to customize recording rules, Scribe name and image, and layout.

  • Organizational view applies to group settings, ensuring consistent recording behavior and preventing individual overrides.

Personal Recording & Scribe Settings

This view allows individual users to customize their own Scribe and recording preferences, provided they are the sole Spiky user in a meeting.

Key Settings:

  • Auto-Record Meetings: Choose to auto-record all, none, or specific calendar meetings.

  • Customize Scribe:

    • Set the Scribe’s display name and image (e.g., "Sophia’s Notetaker").

  • Recording Layout:

    • Choose how participant videos appear (Speaker View, Gallery, Audio Only).

    • Choose screen sharing display (Beside, Overlap, Hidden).

  • Notification Toggles:

    • Real-time notification: Enables posting insights during meetings in chat.

    • Zoom Recording Notification: Sends a Zoom message to alert participants of the recording.

🔸 Used when you're the only Spiky user in the meeting.

💡 You can always adjust your preferences regarding which meetings you customize recording options and how Scribe appears in those meetings by navigating to Settings > Recording & Scribe page.

  • You can easily change your Personal preferences; the explanation is below.

Organizational Recording & Scribe Settings

This view lets admins apply unified recording and Scribe settings for all Spiky users across the organization.

Key Differences from Personal View:

  • Disable Personal Preferences: Overrides individual settings to enforce consistency.

  • Applies to all meetings where more than one Spiky user is present.

  • The same fields for layout, Scribe name/image, and recording logic exist, but they apply globally.

🔸 Ensures consistency across your team’s recordings and note-taking experiences.

  • Only admins can change Organizational settings.
